JAVIER AYALA-HIL  

Javier Ayala is the Founder and Academy Director of Bay Area Soccer Academy. In this role, he oversees the mentorship program for young players who are aspiring to play at a high youth level, college, or professionally. Through his guidance and expertise, Javier helps these aspiring athletes develop their skills and reach their goals.


Javier as a player:

Javier is a local Bay Area native who grew up in East Palo Alto, California. He comes from a family that has a deep passion for the game of soccer so excelling in the sport came natural to him. Javier played for Northern California teams in Menlo Park and Palo Alto and participated in State and Regional ODP programs throughout his youth career. He was recruited to play soccer at UC Berkeley under Kevin Grimes from 2004-2007. Throughout his college career he made the NCAA Tournament all 4 years, two 2nd round appearances, one Sweet 16 appearance and one Elite 8 appearance. Javier and the Golden Bears won the PAC-10 Championship in 2006 and 2007. They were a top 25 program all 4 years.  In Javier’s Professional Soccer experience, he had training stints with Chivas USA (MLS), San Jose Earthquakes (MLS) and Sporting Kansas City SKC (MLS). Javier also had the experience to play in several countries at a professional and semi-professional level, Bayamon FC (Puerto Rico), TTM (Thai Premier League) and Luckenwalde FSV 63 (Germany). Toward the end of his playing career he played with semi-professional teams in the Bay Area, Bay Area Ambassadors (NPSL) and Bay Area Rosal (MASL).  


Javier as a coach:

Javier Ayala-Hil was named USF’s Head Assistant men's soccer coach in May 2019. Prior to USF, Javier was the Head Coach at SF State for 3 seasons. At the helm, Ayala-Hil led the 2017 squad to a 12-5-2 mark and was named CCAA Men's Soccer Coach of the Year. The Gators matched the program's best start in school history with a 5-0 start and, on the final day of the regular season, clinched a postseason berth for the first time since 1978. SF State won its quarterfinals match 1-0 at No. 13 UC San Diego and fell to Cal Poly Pomona in the CCAA Championships Semifinals. Javier has also coached at the Semi Professional level, USL-2 with the San Francisco Glens for 2 seasons. Prior to coaching at SF State and USF, Javier was a Head Assistant at UC Berkeley for 3 seasons.

Coach Adrian Guzman is a technical specialist. He has a proven track record of playing at a very high level using his technical ability on the ball. The last 6 months he has dedicated his time to teach younger players how to be more comfortable on the ball.

Coach Cristian emphasizes technical skill development, tactical awareness, and the importance of teamwork and sportsmanship. He has been pivotal in crafting athletic training plans and developing students’ soccer skills alongside their academic growth at Las Positas College

Coach Julian was instrumental in his young career at Cal State East Bay. He also plays for Project 510, 2nd team of the Oakland Roots. Julian is an East Bay resident that is excited to young players in his community.
